Throwback to an absolutely insane event: Equitana Melbourne 2022!
Equitana is one of the biggest horse events in Australia, and getting to take Rahni and Tiamat into that arena was a dream. Bright lights, a huge crowd, music and two Arabian mares at liberty.
Bridleless in the big arena
Riding Rahni bridleless in front of that crowd is a memory we'll treasure forever. Everything we'd practised in quiet paddocks and bush tracks had to hold up under the lights, and she was a superstar.
Behind the scenes
Of course, it wasn't all serious. Miss Rahni spent part of the event showing a bit of tongue and cheek, while Miss Tiamat seemed to be questioning how she'd ended up with us weirdos.
What performing taught us
- Preparation is everything. Exposure to noise, crowds and new spaces built the girls' confidence long before the event.
- Trust beats tricks. In a busy arena, the relationship is what keeps a liberty horse with you.
- Enjoy it! The horses feed off your energy, so smile.
